Hi, I’m Zach
I’ve lived in three different countries on three different continents and have traveled to more than 70 countries across six continents.
Since I started traveling, I haven’t looked back.
Traveling is my passion and my ultimate goal is to learn as much as I can about the world through travel.
I enjoy writing about my travel experiences. That’s why I created this blog.
A little about me…
In 2018 I booked a one-way ticket from the US to Thailand, wanting to experience something new and travel for as long as possible. I consider this to be the best decision I’ve ever made.
Later that same year, I ended up settling in Hanoi, Vietnam, and continued to live there for more than two years. I decided to settle and base myself in Hanoi after traveling around the region and ending up in Vietnam. During that time, I started working remotely, which helped enable future travel and career opportunities.
At the end of 2020, I decided to move to the Netherlands, to finish my education. I consider this to be the second-best decision I’ve ever made.
Between 2020 and 2023, I visited 50 countries, including 31 in Europe.
I’ve always enjoyed writing and sharing my experiences with others, which led to the creation of this website. For years I sent newsletters to friends and family, which became the basis for the blog.
Some of my favorite places are:
Vietnam, because I lived there for two and a half years, and during that time I picked up some of the language, traveled all around the country, and greatly enjoyed the delicious food.
Thailand, because it was the first place I went to in Asia, after booking a one-way ticket with no long-term plan. It felt so liberating, and it’s so nostalgic whenever I go back. That first month in Asia (all in Thailand) is probably one of the best months of my life.
Spain, because I consider it to be one of the best all-around countries in Europe. Between the weather, food, culture, people, and lifestyle, Spain has so much to offer.
Colombia, because it’s the country in South America in which I’ve spent the most time. I love Medellín, as it’s a fantastic co-working destination, and the Latin culture is so warm and hospitable. I also find Colombian Spanish to be the easiest to understand, and I enjoy practicing with locals, who are super friendly and welcoming.
Cape Town, South Africa, because of all it offers. Beaches, mountains, city life, penguins, wineries, epic road trips? Yep, all of it, and you could even do all of that in one day. Cape Town is a popular tourist destination, but in my opinion, it’s also the most underrated co-working destination in the world. Cape Town is an absolute gem.
I could go on, but the above are places I could see myself living, and if not, returning to many times.
What can you expect to see on the blog?
I am hoping to write about my experiences everywhere I go. That will include the things I do, the food I eat, where I stay, and the best travel tips I’ve learned. The goal is to share my experiences, which others may find helpful in planning their travels.
If there’s anything I’ve learned so far, it’s that traveling and going as far as you can and to places that are as different from what you’re most familiar with is the best form of education. Travel is proven to make people more worldly, open-minded, and considerate towards others.
